Detailed description
25 March 1814 The sixth anti-French coalition forces tried to capture Paris. This attempt did not become a surprise for Napoleon, but he was at Saint-Dizier and do not have time in the capital in time.
Paris stood firm defense in anticipation of the emperor, but, hoping to prevent the destruction of the city, Marmont Marshal ordered to surrender the capital. On the last day of March, 1814 under the text of the capitulation of Paris appropriate signatures have been delivered. Guardsmen Prussia and Russia, led by the Emperor Alexander I, solemnly entered the French capital.
The news of the surrender of the capital city Napoleon was on the outskirts of the outskirts of Paris. He hoped to continue the fight, but did not get support even from the marshal's entourage. Emperor Bonaparte was forced to 6th April 1814 to declare on his own abdication and renounced his heirs. As a result, on April 20th Bonaparte was sent to prison a link to the Mediterranean island of Elba.
