The Crimean peninsula for its warm climate and the convenience of geographical location in the ancient times attracted people to its territory. This area was inhabited at different times of the Scythians, Sarmatians, brand. Already in the V century BC. e. Quarantine Bay on the banks settled the Greeks, who arrived here from Herculean Pont and founded the city of Chersonese (the territory of present Sevastopol). Very quickly, the city-state grew to a major center, which had an influence on the northern Black Sea region. The rise and decline succeeded each other until finally Hersonissos has not lost its influence in the 10th century.
