Ulyanovsk is the only city where two rivers flow, parallel to each other, but in completely opposite directions.

Only through the city there are 6 rivers - Volga, Sviyaga, Herring, Gryaznushka, Karasyovka and Simbirka. The length of the Sviyaga is more than 250 km, it flows parallel to the Volga, but in the opposite direction, falling into it near Kazan. Along the Volga the city stretches on two banks and stretches along the river for almost 25 km.
