Detailed description

Tver region - one of the ancient regions of Russia. Cities area are the oldest - Bezhetsk, Torzhok, Tver, Toropets. A lot of historical and architectural monuments survived to the present day. Many legends and stories exist on local attractions. For example, one legend tells that the lake Brosno lives enormous unknown animal. Another legend says that the famous the lost library of Ivan III the Terrible, the basis of which made the rare Greek and Roman manuscripts, hidden in caves Staritsky on Tverskaya land.

Located in the area of the East European Plain. The main resource of the region is the huge number of rivers (more than 800) and lakes (over 1700). Since 1935, the area was called Kalinin, and then in 1990 she returned to its original name.
