Detailed description
Turkmen eublepharis - a ground-gecko lizard of the genus eublepharis.
The length of the animal up to 14 cm, tail up to 9 cm, weight 65 Samko little smaller. The head is quite large and high, clearly separated from the neck. The body with small scales, among which there are separate tapered and larger. The tail is usually much swollen in the middle. Young eublepharis uniformly-dark top with wide stripes across the back and tail. Adults yellowish-brown, ocher, have a lot of purple-brown spots and speckles of irregular shape. On the ridge passes light strip. Tail light lilac with light and dark spots.
This lizard inhabits the mountains south of Turkmenistan, choosing residence rocky gorges and gentle slopes. He lives under rocks, in crevices in the burrows of rodents.
In the food suitable insects, arthropods, small lizards and young rodents.
On eublepharis hunt cobras and eagles. The female lays in July, two or three eggs.
The number of species, though low, but stable. In the 80s, only 20 copies were found in the USSR. View protected and included in the Red Book.
