Detailed description

Ingenious Kutuzov, trying to save the army from defeat, approved a plan to retreat from the Russian capital to the military council in Fili. Columns of military quietly and without a fight, left the burning of Moscow, heading west, it was not clear for the French. Marshal Murat pursued the Russian convoys, discover over time that it was only a rear-guard under the command of Cossack Rajewski. Commander MI Kutuzov made Tarutinsky maneuver by pushing forces to the west and the village of Tarutino sheltered from enemy harassment. The Russian army had disappeared from view of the enemy, more than a week French intelligence in vain looking for the Russian shelf.

Having a break in time, Kutuzov beefed up army, gave her the opportunity to rest and regroup. He developed a plan of attack and organized a guerrilla movement in the rear of the French.

Only September 24, 1812 the enemy was able to detect the Russian camp at Tarutino. Troops under the command of Murat approached the village from the north at a distance of 6 km near the river Chernishni. Golenishtchev Field Marshal Kutuzov ordered a battle with the French. As a result of Murat's army it was severely anemic, but not completely destroyed.

The battle of Russian troops on October 18 near the village of Tarutino went down in history as the first battle in the war of Kutuzov, which was won unconditional victory.
