Detailed description
Initially, the mascot and symbol of the Olympic Winter Games in 2014. Sochi residents have chosen a dolphin on skis, Yaroslavl artist Olga Belyaeva. Voting took place March 2, 2008, together with the Russian presidential elections in all polling stations of the city among the 270 thousand voters. However, after the election results were announced, the representative of the Organizing Committee "Sochi 2014" noted that the official mascot of the Winter Games will be announced no earlier than 2011.
September 1, 2010 Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, together with the newspaper "Izvestia" declared all-Russian contest mascots games in which he could participate anyone. Total for the competition were submitted 24,048 works of participants from all regions of Russia and the citizens living abroad.
Registered Site Visitors "Talisman Sochi-2014" had the opportunity to evaluate the proposed options mascots on a scale. The absolute leader in popularity ranking among the mascot became Anura "Zoycha" Moscow artist Egor Zhgun.
December 21 were announced results of the first round of selection of mascots of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The expert jury selected from submitted papers 10 variants of ideas for the Olympics and 3 - for the Paralympics.
In selecting the final list of ideas mascots expert jury ignored the opinion of the majority of people voted on the site and not made the final list of mascots Zoycha amphibian, which until December 2010 scored the highest number of votes, and following on from the popularity Mitten Turbomilk studio. Before Zoycha first held Pedobir. Thus, for example, Santa Claus, who actively promoted the idea of a public movement "Vote for Santa Claus" created by representatives of the tourism business (in particular, by "Orpheus") and the Vologda region administration, the final hit list.
The panel of judges included: Yuri Bashmet, Igor Butman, Fyodor Bondarchuk, Olesya Vladykina, Nikolai Drozdov, Svetlana Zhurova, Natalia Ionov, Mikhail Kusnirovich, Tatiana Navka Gor Nahapetyan, Vladimir Pirozhkov, Alexander Popov, Vitaly Smirnov, Oleg Tabakov, Mikhail Terentiev, Anatoly Prokhorov, Svyatoslav Ushakov. Jury headed by Director General of OAO "First Channel" Konstantin Ernst.
