Detailed description

Most partisan groups arise spontaneously: people who sympathized with the Soviet government united in the group and went into the woods. A relatively small part of the partisan resistance was organized by the 4th NKVD: throwing group of specially trained commandos behind enemy lines.

In the initial period of the occupation of care to the guerrillas wore massive. But the poor training of volunteer guerrillas and effective action by the German executioners led to the destruction of much of the natural guerrilla units by October-November 1941. In 1942-1944. the average number of partisans in the occupied territories has decreased to 600 thousand. to about 90 thousand. man.

The most common forms of guerrilla warfare were sabotage and destruction of infrastructure; intelligence activities; propaganda and agitation. After the liberation of the occupied territories partisan units were included in the marching troops and parts logistics.
