Detailed description
Assault on Koenigsberg began April 6, 1945 The main difficulty for the Soviet troops were fortified forts, the assault which led to numerous combat losses. The basic plan of the Soviet command was to suppress the forts and artillery preparation to move tanks and infantry forces to bypass portions of the sweep of the German fortifications. Implementation of the plan has been successful: the evening of April 6, Soviet 39th army cut the road Konigsberg - a saw and on 8 April were captured port and railway Konigsberg node. German contingent of the city was cut off from the main group Samland.
April 8th commandant of Koenigsberg was sent an ultimatum of surrender, which, however, was rejected, the fighting continued. The Germans tried to leave the city and move to the west, but were stopped by the advance units of the 43rd Army. Seeing the futility of further resistance commandant of Koenigsberg, General Lasch 9 April 1945 signed a capitulation, but a few isolated German units still continued to keep fighting. April 10 last pockets of German resistance had been suppressed, Konigsberg came under the control of the Soviet army.
There is a variety of coins with the wrong date of issue of 1994 instead of 1995, the auction value of this option was established in the area of 30 - 40 thousand rubles.
Obverse description
In the center - the image of the dome of the Senate and the Spassky Tower of the Moscow Kremlin building on the right - the mint trademark. On the circumference - the inscription framed by a circle of dots: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ 1995 г." at the bottom - "БАНК РОССИИ".
Reverse description
