Detailed description

Orel-Kursk an extended length of the front line (Kursk) was the scene of one of the greatest battles of the Second World War. The total number of soldiers of the Soviet Army and the German side reached 4 million.

Combat operations lasted approximately two months - fifty days. Soviet strategic plan called protracted clashes, in order to weaken the enemy at the first stage of the battle.

massive military action, embodies aggressive plan "Kutuzov" were made in July '43 the command of the USSR. The desperate resistance of the Nazis failed to break the 5th of August, when the Soviet forces completely took over the Oryol. In honor of the arrival of soldiers-liberators in the city for the first time for the entire course of World War II were given shots of fireworks.

The heroism and courage of the inhabitants of the Oryol, the underground and partisans who fought against the Nazis, Soviet soldiers, who were able to clean the city from the Nazis, were rewarded by granting Oryol honorary title "City of Military Glory".
