Detailed description

In 1942-43 Nalchik, the capital city of Kabardino-Balkaria, more than 2 months, I experienced the horrors of the Nazi occupation. Urban buildings Germans turned into ashes. The military forces of the Transcaucasian Front, which has been an active part of the Northern Group, with the support of the combat of Kabardino-Balkarian Republican partisans liberated the capital during the Christmas holidays the forty-third year.

Citizens adequately honor the memory of the soldiers of the Soviet Army and the partisans of the Republic, which did not spare the lives of the heroic liberation of capital from enemy occupation. In memory of the selfless heroism of the soldiers in the park Nalchik burns the Eternal Fire. On the other urban memorials established monuments dedicated to the heroic achievements of the Great Patriotic War.

In 2010, by Presidential Decree Nalchik is listed in the register of the cities that have been awarded the honorary status of "City of Military Glory."
