Detailed description

City Kasimov rose Ryazan land on the left bank of the Oka hilly. Originally it was called Gorodets Meshchersky, and was founded in 1152, the year by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. At the beginning of its existence, the city belonged to the princes of Suzdal. During the reign of Dmitry Donskoy Gorodets Meshchersky attached to Muscovy.

The history of the city has received a unique development in the mid-15th century. From Kazan to Moscow under the patronage of Basil II the Dark fled the Tatar prince Qasim. Along with him were trying to escape from the Moscow State strife arose in Kazan Tatars lot.

Qasim formed his army and entered the service of the Moscow tsar. Many benefits brought Tsarevich Kasim Russia, fighting against the Golden Horde, Dmitry Shemyaka, with the capture of Kazan. For faithful service and merit Russian Tsar Vasily handed in possession of specific Qasim Gorodets Meshchersky.

The town was renamed in honor of the Tatar prince - Kasimov, and around it formed Qasim Khanate, which existed for over 200 years between Ryazan and Tambov. In 1700, the year of Prince Kasim race ceased to exist, and the city became a district center of Ryazan province.

The architectural appearance of Kasimov has retained its uniqueness due to the art of building monuments of different eras. Since the days of Prince Kasim preserved beautiful minarets, mosques and mausoleums. In the era of the post Kasimov kingdom, built of white stone churches and cathedrals. At the end of the 18th century, original outstanding architect Gagin built in the city center "Stone fairy tale" - Shopping malls in the Cathedral Square. A little later, at the entrance to the town there was Peter's gate - the majestic columns in the Empire style.

The top of the ring along the rim - the inscription: "БАНК РОССИИ", at the bottom - the date "2003" on the left and the right - stylized twigs of plants going over to the disc.
