Detailed description

At the beginning of the military events of 1812 general of cavalry Leonty Leontievich Bennigsen turned 67. A German by birth, born in Hanover, he enlisted in 1773 to serve in the Russian Empire.

During the 1812 campaign Bennigsen was identified as chief of the Main Staff, who commanded MI Kutuzov. Cavalry General took part in the battle of Borodino. In the course of the military council in Fili Leonty L. insisted on the additional general battle near Moscow. However, Field Marshal Kutuzov, perhaps Russian soldiers came to a different decision. Disagreement between Bennigsen and MI Kutuzov was Bennigsen cause for dismissal from the staff duties.
