Detailed description
The coin is dedicated to the Astrakhan region, which is located on the East European Plain (south-east). It is here, in the region of the Caspian depression is the greatest river of our country Volga flows into the Caspian Sea. It is interesting that this area is conditional on the border of Asia and Europe. Moreover, due to the presence on the territory of such a serious "waterway" as the Volga, the area has access to five seas. If we look at the Astrakhan region on the map, it is located on a narrow strip of the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain. It is worth noting that the great delta of the Volga periodically flooded hollow waters. This site is a great place for spawning of many valuable species of fish.
If we talk about the field of mineral resources, it is - one of the richest in Russia. After all, there are deposits of natural gas and oil. They have successfully developed domestic oil and gas companies. In addition, the area is very rich in deposits of rock salt - a valuable mineral resource.
In ancient times, through the current of the Astrakhan region were Arab and Persian trade routes. In the 8-10 centuries, these territories were part of the Khazar Khanate. There are strong suggestions that indicate that the city of Itil, the capital of the khanate, was located on the present territory of Astrakhan region. It destroyed in 965 Russian Prince Svyatoslav. Somewhat later came the territory at the disposal of the Polovtsy, and in the 13th century it was conquered by the Mongols. In 1558 it merged with the Astrakhan Khanate to the Russian state. This allowed the district to do the domestic military outpost. In the 17th century. developed salt and fisheries.
