Detailed description

The name of the Amur Region or Amur Region is derived from the name of the large Far Eastern Amur River. The region is located in the Far East of our country. The first Russian campaign against the Amur was undertaken in 1643 by Vasily Poiarkov. In 1649-1653, Yerofei Khabarov founded several jails there, but the Manchus forced their settlers to leave these lands with their raids. According to the Nerchinsk treatise of 1689, Russia lost the lands of the Amur River that it had already mastered.

Nerchinsk Treaty was annulled only in the XIX century, when Russia and China signed the Treaty of Aygun in 1858, according to which the border between the two countries passed along the Amur River. In 1860, the Beijing Treaty finally defined the border between China and Russia. In the Amur River, Russian troops and Cossacks returned. The administrative center of the Amur region was the city of Blagoveshchensk, founded in 1856, and the region itself became part of the East Siberian Governor-General. In 1884, the Amur governor general was created, which included the Amur, Primorye and Trans-Baikal regions.

The Amur region in the north is affected by the cold Sea of Okhotsk, sometimes called an ice bag. Winter in the north of the region is very cold, the average monthly temperature in January reaches -40 degrees. In the south of the region it is warmer, summer in the valleys is hot. Several powerful power plants are located in the Amur Region, including the Zeya and Bureyskaya HPPs.

Through the territory of the region pass the Trans-Siberian and Baikal-Amur Mainline, several federal highways, the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline. The Amur Region has all the prerequisites for the development of industry and the creation of decent jobs for the local population, but, unfortunately, this does not happen. The population of the region is constantly shrinking, people are leaving to find work in other parts of the country, and neighboring China is waiting for the Amur River to pass and take the lands completely depopulated.
